Privacy policy

This website is operated by Tribalsand LLC ("Tribal Sand", "we"), owner of Maya Kobe, Bofa Road, Kilifi, Kilifi County, Kenya. We take the privacy of our guests seriously and handle personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 and, for visitors from the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the GDPR.
What we collect
- Enquiry details you type into the enquiry form or send us by WhatsApp or email: name, email address, phone number, travel dates, number of guests, the suite or experience you are interested in, and your message.
- Technical data that any website receives: IP address, browser type, pages viewed and the time of your visit. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for security.
- Enquiry context, attached to each enquiry so we can answer well and understand which channels bring guests: the page you sent it from, the page you first arrived on and the site that referred you (including campaign tags such as UTM parameters), your IP address, browser language, time zone and device type.
- Analytics, only if you accept the cookie notice: anonymised usage statistics through Google Analytics, with IP anonymisation switched on.
How we use it
- To answer your enquiry, check availability and arrange your stay, transfers or experiences.
- To keep in touch about a booking you have made or asked about.
- To understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell personal data and we do not send marketing emails unless you have asked to receive them.
Where your enquiry goes
Enquiries sent through the form open WhatsApp or your own email app, so the message travels through those services under their own privacy terms. Enquiries sent without JavaScript are emailed from this server to reservations@tribalsand.com. The "Check availability" booking form is provided by tribalsand.com and loaded in a frame: what you type into it goes straight to the Tribal Sand reservations system, not to this server. Bookings are completed with Tribal Sand, which has its own privacy policy.
Cookies
The site itself sets two small cookies: one to remember your language choice and one to remember whether you accepted or declined analytics. Google Analytics, when accepted, sets its own cookies to tell returning visitors from new ones. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing cookies for this site in your browser.
Third parties
Pages embed the Tribal Sand booking form, a Google Map and fonts from Google Fonts; each receives your IP address when it loads. Photos of celebrations are hosted on this domain. We share enquiry details only with the Maya Kobe reservations team and, where needed to arrange your stay, with transfer or activity partners.
How long we keep it
Enquiry correspondence is kept for up to 24 months after your last contact with us, or longer where a booking or legal obligation requires it. Server logs are rotated within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to reservations@tribalsand.com or call +254 115 115 247. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya or your local supervisory authority.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date at the top.
